Building Engineering completes Coonawarra Willam Aquatic Centre at Ivanhoe Grammar School
We are thrilled to once again partner with our long-term client, Ivanhoe Grammar School, to deliver the exciting new Coonawarra Willam Aquatic Centre at their Plenty Campus. Officially opened in early 2025, this state-of-the-art facility features a 25-metre swimming pool, a dedicated learn-to-swim pool, a fully equipped gym, modern change rooms, and PE and Health studies classrooms.
In addition to the Aquatic Centre, our team has delivered new, cutting-edge sports fields, including a soccer pitch and a versatile hockey field that converts to multiple tennis and netball courts. These facilities will serve Ivanhoe Grammar School families, students from other schools participating in AGSV/APS sports, and the broader communities of Mernda, Doreen, South Morang, Wollert, and beyond.
In collaboration with Peddle Thorp Architects, Building Engineering ensured sustainability was at the forefront of this project, incorporating solar energy, rainwater recycling, and energy-efficient construction. This reflects our commitment to environmentally conscious building practices.
Named by Wurundjeri Elder Aunty Zeta Thomson, ‘Coonawarra Willam,’ meaning ‘Home of the Swan’ in Woi-wurrung, symbolises the connection between land and water—a meaningful touch to this beautiful facility.
Ivanhoe Grammar will also launch its Ivanhoe Swim program in Term 2, offering Learn-to-Swim classes for students and the broader community.
We are proud to be a part of delivering this fantastic resource for the school and its surrounding community.
