Building Engineering delivers St Columba’s Foxford Innovation Centre three months ahead of schedule
Building Engineering is excited to announce the successful completion of the Foxford Innovation Centre at St Columba’s College. This project was delivered three months ahead of schedule, just in time for the 2025 school year.
The state-of-the-art Foxford Innovation Centre is a testament to innovation, collaboration, and best practices in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) education. Nestled at the corner of Buckley and Lorraine Streets, this modern facility is designed to support cross-disciplinary learning, while seamlessly integrating heritage design elements that pay homage to the historical architecture of the Bruton building. The centre’s graceful arches and curved features blend effortlessly with the existing campus, creating a timeless structure that will serve as a hub for learning and creativity for years to come.
In addition to its stunning design, the centre is equipped with cutting-edge spaces, including food technology kitchens, maker spaces, textiles and ceramics studios, science labs, digital design and photography studios, and even a competition-grade sports court. These agile learning environments have been created with flexibility, featuring IT connectivity and adaptable furniture to cater to a wide range of learning styles and collaborative projects.
Rita Grima, Principal of St Columba’s College, praised Building Engineering for their proactive and transparent approach throughout the project, stating: “Building Engineering established trust with the college through their proactive scrutiny of each element of the build, and the value management they were able to realise for several components of this large project.”
She added, “We have enjoyed a highly successful and engaging partnership with Building Engineering. The whole way through the project, we felt that we had the A+ BE team working on the project. The reason for the success was open channels of communication and great flexible work.”
Charles Humphries, Project Manager at Building Engineering, expressed his pride in the early delivery and praised the collaboration between all parties involved: “We are proud to have delivered this project three months ahead of program to enable St Columba’s College to move in at the start of the 2025 school year. This success has been due to the strong collaboration between our project team, consultants, and the fantastic partnership we have formed with St Columba’s College.”
The Foxford Innovation Centre is not just a construction project but a forward-thinking facility that blends sustainability and innovative design. To ensure a sustainable footprint, the building is equipped with rooftop solar panels, rainwater collection tanks, and electrical charging infrastructure. The landscaping and extensive paving surrounding the centre also enhance its environmental features.
The project’s successful completion ahead of schedule further highlights Building Engineering’s commitment to delivering excellence through strong partnerships and open communication. We look forward to seeing this centre’s incredible impact on the students and staff at St Columba’s College.
