Celebrating excellence: our nominees for the Master Builders Excellence in Construction Awards

We are thrilled to announce that Building Engineering has three outstanding projects nominated for the upcoming Master Builders Excellence in Construction Awards this year.

These nominations are a testament to the hard work and dedication of our project teams, who continually strive for excellence in every aspect of their work. As the awards night on Friday, August 9th approaches, we extend our heartfelt congratulations to our project teams and wish them the best of luck.

Let’s take a closer look at our nominated projects:

Lort Smith Animal Hospital Redevelopment – North Melbourne
Category: Excellence in Construction of Commercial Buildings $10M-$15M

Lort Smith Animal Hospital is the largest and busiest not-for-profit animal hospital in Australia. This redevelopment project has transformed the existing North Melbourne site into a modern hospital with new medical equipment and extended facilities to care for the thousands of pets that visit Lort Smith every year. Delivered in a fully operational environment, the vet clinic and hospital continued to operate seamlessly during construction, demonstrating our team’s exceptional ability to manage complex projects while maintaining day-to-day operations.

Scotch College Errington Retreat
Category: Excellence in Construction of Commercial Buildings $3M-$5M

The Scotch College Errington Retreat is a distinct addition to the boarding precinct, now serving as a vibrant hub for parents, families, and students to connect in a relaxed and convivial setting. Strategically nestled at the heart of the campus, this parent retreat and community center aligns with the school’s rich heritage. The project involved meticulous planning to preserve the original Victorian-era Glen House mansion, which stood on the site when Scotch College acquired it in 1915. The scope of work encompassed several crucial phases, each executed with precision and care, enhancing the campus while upholding its historical significance.

Fishermans Bend Innovation Precinct – Plant 18 Phase 2 Early Works
Category: Excellence in Civil Construction under $10M

In the Fishermans Bend Plant 18 Early Works project, the Building Engineering team embarked on a transformative journey to enhance the infrastructure of the Fishermans Bend Innovation Precinct. Executed on behalf of Development Victoria and the Victorian Government, our primary objective revolved around constructing an advanced substation and main switch room.

This new infrastructure enables a new point of electrical supply to Plant 18, requiring associated electrical services redirections and modifications. The project presented unique challenges, including coordinating after-hours service isolations to minimise disruptions to Plant 18 tenant. Our team’s tailored solutions and meticulous planning ensured the successful delivery of this critical infrastructure upgrade.

We are incredibly proud of these achievements and the talented teams behind them. Their dedication, expertise, and collaborative spirit have not only brought these projects to life but have also set new benchmarks in construction excellence.

Good luck to all the nominees!
