Sages Road Depot nearing completion: milestones achieved and progress update
Exciting developments are underway at the Sages Road Depot, a new two-storey operational depot being delivered by Building Engineering for the Greater Metropolitan Cemeteries Trust.
The Depot will become the operational hub for Northern Memorial Park (NMP) operations and River Red Gum. Upon completion, the new two-storey building will serve as a central gathering place for employees, offering offices, meeting rooms, collaboration spaces, and an auditorium. Furthermore, it will seamlessly integrate essential vehicles, equipment, and tools crucial for the day-to-day operations of the park.
As the project gears toward its final stages, here’s a snapshot of the latest achievements and progress:
Timber trusses installation
The final touches are being added as the installation of the last timber trusses is currently in progress. With completion expected within the week, this marks a significant milestone in the project timeline. The meticulous design process, which commenced back in October 2022, has culminated in the assembly of thousands of timber and connection components shipped from Italy.
Service rough-ins and linings
On the ground floor, rough-ins for essential services have been completed, paving the way for the commencement of linings. Meanwhile, on Level 1, rough-in works are set to wrap up by the end of the week, making the space ready for linings, further advancing the interior finishing phase.
Roofing progress
The project’s roofing stage has reached the halfway mark, with 50% completion achieved. This essential aspect not only enhances the structural integrity of the building but also brings the project closer to its final form.
Façade panel installation
Prepare for a visual transformation as the installation of 1,000 façade panels is scheduled to commence on 11th March 2024. This exciting phase will add aesthetic appeal while contributing to the project’s overall functionality and durability.
Paver laying milestone
A remarkable feat is underway as we are approximately halfway through the laying of a staggering 45,000 pavers. This intricate process not only enhances the project’s exterior but also reflects meticulous attention to detail and craftsmanship.
