Building Engineering successfully completed the Charles La Trobe College (CLTC) Sports Park Stage 3 – Sports Field and Pavilion project in early 2023.

Situated on spacious grounds adjacent to La Trobe University in Macleod, the La Trobe campus caters to students from Prep to Year 12. This project, delivered in collaboration with La Trobe University (LTU), is part of the larger La Trobe Sports Park development.

The Sports Park Precinct is a cutting-edge sport, recreation, and education hub, providing a high-quality and sustainable asset for LTU, the community, and tenant clubs.

Stage 3 of the LTU Sports Park includes the Football Victoria State Football Centre and the Rugby Victoria State Rugby Centre at the Bundoora campus. As part of this, Building Engineering delivered the Sports Field and Pavilion project.

To accommodate the Football Victoria and Rugby Victoria facilities, this project involved relocating the existing baseball field and pavilion to the Charles La Trobe College campus. Additionally, through a partnership with the Department of Education and Local Sport, the project included the installation of a synthetic football field. Both the baseball and football fields were delivered as hybrid synthetic surfaces.

The new community facilities feature a competition-standard baseball diamond, which is used by the Preston Baseball Club and the La Trobe University Baseball Club outside of school hours, while a full-sized soccer pitch is available for CLTC students during school hours.

The development also included a pavilion with accessible change facilities, a function space for tenant clubs, batting cages, field lighting, and a scoreboard.

The Sports Field and Pavilion serve as a key element in the broader LTU Sports Park precinct, acting as a connective urban feature that brings together tenant clubs, La Trobe University, and the local community into a dynamic, engaging space.
