In the Fishermans Bend Plant 18 Early Works project, the Building Engineering team embarked on a transformative journey to enhance the infrastructure of the Fishermans Bend Innovation Precinct. This initiative, executed on behalf of Development Victoria and the Victorian Government, exemplifies our commitment to excellence in delivery.

Our primary objective revolved around the construction of an advanced substation and main switch room, strategically positioned to enable a new point of electrical supply to Plant 18 from Todd Road. Associated electrical services redirections and modifications were required to enable the new point of supply to Plant 18.

This project consisted of the construction of a new concrete building, seamlessly integrating institute and precast elements, to house the Citipower substation and main switch room.

Navigating through this project presented a series of unique challenges, each requiring a tailored solution. Notably, our team meticulously coordinated after-hours service isolations to minimise disruptions to operations of the Plant 18 tenant.

This intricate balancing act ensured the continuity of their critical manufacturing and testing processes for equipment components.

The project’s complexity extended beyond surface appearances. While the structure may seem like a conventional concrete bunker, its heavy-duty structural design, extensive electrical works, and detailed coordination with Citipower underscored the depth of our expertise and commitment to collaboration and delivering high-quality outcomes.

Overcoming obstacles posed by soft, silty, contaminated soil conditions further highlighted our resilience and adaptability. Through innovative solutions and unwavering dedication, we transformed challenges into opportunities for progress and success.
