Building Engineering delivered the Footscray Primary School project in quarter one of 2023. The project was delivered under a Design and Construct contract.
The upgrade and expansion of the school have created an additional 200 enrolment places for local students.
The works included the delivery of a new covered outdoor learning area (COLA) building, and a new two-storey learning hub.
Building Engineering collaborated closely with the school and key stakeholder groups to ensure the build supported the key learning requirements for the school.
Footscray Primary School is a dedicated bilingual school, and the students do half of their learning in Italian and half of their learning in English. When designing the new learning areas, it was key to consider the requirements for students to transition through the spaces.
A key consideration when designing the outdoor spaces was the integration with the local community. The new covered outdoor learning area (COLA) building has been designed without walls, so the community has access to use that space out-of-hours.
Building Engineering is thrilled to continue its partnership with the Victorian School Building Authority (VSBA), following the recent completion of the Blackburn High School STEM Centre, and The Grange P-12 College Science, Technology, and Sports Facility. Building Engineering is currently delivering the Norwood Secondary School project with the VSBA, due to be delivered in mid-2023.
