Lort Smith Animal Hospital is the largest and busiest not-for-profit animal hospital in Australia. Building Engineering commenced works on the new hospital in August 2020.
The first of three separable portions saw the construction of a new facility in Campbellfield to provide high-quality veterinary care, community-based services, and an animal-friendly shelter. This facility also focuses on training veterinary nurses, placements for veterinary students, support for volunteers, and a place for a community of local animal lovers to unite. This separable portion was delivered in 2022.
Separable portion 2 of the project is now complete at the North Melbourne site, with Separable potion 3 works recently completed. This consists of the redevelopment of the existing North Melbourne site to create a modern hospital with new medical equipment and extended facilities to care for the thousands of pets that visit Lort Smith every year.
An iconic Melbourne institution providing exceptional veterinary services for all pet carers, the Lort Smith Animal Hospital provides world-class animal healthcare and wellbeing services through high-quality vet care and state-of-the-art facilities.
Works were delivered in a fully operational environment as the vet clinic and hospital continued to operate during construction.
Works were delivered in 2024.
