This project involved the construction of a new green workplace and depot facilities for Parks Victoria including a new office building, surrounding hardstand, services infrastructure, and landscaping works.
The facility was designed to blend into the environment and support quality park services for more than six million annual visitors to Albert Park.
It includes a workplace and space for the use and storage of equipment and vehicles. The two-level sustainable, contemporary building harmonises with the environment, sitting lightly on the parkland and maximising rangers’ views of activities within the park.
The project includes a mixture of construction systems, with the ground fl oor constructed with screw piles, pad footings and a steel reinforced concrete slab with internal and external edge beams. The steel reinforced concrete first floor slab is supported by steel reinforced concrete columns and core fi lled blockwork. The structure above the first floor slab is structural cross laminated timber (CLT) posts and CLT structural wall panels supporting an exposed structural CLT ceiling.
Completing the project included managing complex site access conditions, with the site located in a public park and adjacent to the Australian Grand Prix venue.
